It makes an ideal aperitif and will go with a wide range of dishes like : plain foie gras, fresh of fried foie gras, rich salads, fish in sauce, calf sweetbread, white meat, poultry in sauce, game birds, blue cheese.
SPIEGEL has been well-known for over 50 years, a time during which the owners of this plot have done their utmost to preserve its originality.
SPIEGEL lies on sandy-clay and faces east. It stretches out halfway up the slope between Guebwiller and Bergholtz at an altitude of 260 to 315 metres.
Hand-picked, put into crates. Whole bunches pressed. Static settling of the must. Fermented in temperature controlled tuns. Raised on the less for 8 months.
It has a golden yellow colour with hints of green and thick tears. The Pinot Gris Grand Cru Spiegel 2002 has an intense nose with delicate scents of mushrooms, undergrowth and slightly smoky notes. Well-balanced, fine and delicate on the palate, with beeswax notes, it offers a very beautifully lively mellow, very long finish.
